Meet the Aunties

Leslie Barse (Kickapoo)

Leslie retired after thirty-one years of service as an elementary school teacher for Little Axe and Norman Public Schools.  She has been involved with children, their education, and their welfare over thirty years. As a full blood Kickapoo, she loves sharing her heritage and culture with her two daughters and four grandchildren.

“When I read about the children that were going to be placed at Lawton, I was very concerned, and I knew and had to do something.  The Auntie Project will not only help these children taken from their loved ones but all children going through a life changing ordeal.”
